New Mexico State Road 337 (formerly South 10 and later called South 14) a few miles east of Albuquerque, extends south from Tijeras. For about six years residents of the area have been decorating roadside trees for Christmas. In 2004 I found decorated trees from a mile south of Tijeras to about ten miles south. Some get decorated as early as Thanksgiving, some as late as Christmas Eve. Most are undecorated in early January, but some have decorations until March. Each year there seem to be more Christmas trees. This holiday custom brings joy to many.
